A 14-year-old boy has been arrested over a fatal school shooting in the U.S. state of Georgia.
The student allegedly shot and killed four people and injured another nine.
The shooter has been arrested. Authorities say the teen will be “tried as an adult”. This means he will face more severe penalties than an underage offender.
Here’s the latest.
Shooting
This morning (local time), authorities received reports of an active shooter in Winder, Georgia — about an hour outside the state capital, Atlanta.
Authorities allege a 14-year-old boy opened fire at Apalachee High School, where he is a student.
It’s alleged the shooter killed two teachers and two students before he surrendered to authorities. No motive has been identified.

At a press conference this morning, Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith condemned the incident as “a hateful event”.
He said: ”I never imagined that I would be speaking to the media in my career over… the pure evil that happened today.”
In a post on X, U.S. President Joe Biden called for an end to “senseless gun violence.”
Biden said: “We cannot continue to accept this as normal.”
