The Victorian Department of Health has issued a thunderstorm asthma warning for some areas of the state. Metropolitan Melbourne is currently sitting at a ‘moderate’ risk level, while the Mallee and Wimmera regions are at a ‘high’ risk.
The combination of thunderstorms and hayfever from high grass pollen forecasts can trigger severe asthma symptoms in certain cases.
The official advice
Victorians are advised to avoid exposure to the storms, have an asthma reliever available and an asthma action plan in place.
