Australian basketballer Josh Giddey is facing a police investigation in the U.S. state of California.
The 21-year-old has been accused of inappropriate behaviour with a “female minor”. The age of consent in California is 18.
The Newport Beach Police Department said officers were “pursuing all leads and evidence to obtain the facts of the case”.
Who is Josh Giddey?
Giddey is the shooting guard for Oklahoma City Thunder. He was drafted into the team in 2021.
The NBA has also opened its own investigation into the allegations against Josh Giddey, which first surfaced online.
When asked about the claims against him last week, Giddey told reporters there was “no further comment right now”.
