The pilot of a helicopter that crashed into a Cairns hotel has died, police have confirmed.
The aircraft collided with the roof of the DoubleTree hotel in the early hours of this morning and burst into flames.
All guests were evacuated from the hotel. According to Qld Ambulance, “there were no injuries sustained by people on the ground.”
Qld Police said the pilot was the only person on board the helicopter at the time of the incident.
