New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced she will resign as Prime Minister and leader of the Labour Party.

The Labour Party will hold a leadership contest in three days and Ardern intends to resign soon after a new leader is chosen.

“For me, it’s time,” Ardern said in a press conference this morning.

“I just don’t have enough in the tank for another four years.”

Ardern plans to leave Parliament in April. New Zealand is set to hold an election later this year.
