Former NRL player Jarryd Hayne will not face a fourth trial over the alleged sexual assault of a 26-year-old woman in 2018.
It comes after he won an appeal to have his sexual assault conviction quashed earlier this month.
In a statement on Tuesday, the NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said: “Having carefully considered the many competing factors that inform the assessment of the public interest in this case, the ODPP has determined not to proceed to a fourth trial against Mr Hayne.”

Hayne was accused of sexually assaulting a then-26-year-old woman at her Newcastle home in 2018.
The case went to three separate trials.
The first trial resulted in a hung jury. The second trial resulted in a guilty verdict and Hayne spent time in jail, but was freed after he successfully appealed the guilty verdict.
Last year, he was found guilty again and was sentenced to a maximum of four years and nine months in prison. This conviction was quashed earlier this month. Now, the ODPP has decided Jarryd Hayne won’t go to a fourth trial over the allegation.
Hayne has always pleaded not guilty.
