NSW’s health department is warning people not to consume Uncle Frog’s Mushroom Gummies.
Five people have been treated in hospital since April 2024 after consuming the illicit mushroom gummies.
NSW Health said these people were “experiencing unexpected toxicity” and that there have been reports of other hospitalisations interstate.
Patients have reported nausea, loss of consciousness, and “seizure like activity”.
Recall due to mushroom gummies warning
Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) have issued a recall of two products from Uncle Frog’s Mushroom Gummies — “Cordyceps” and “Lion’s Mane”.
The products have been made available online without regulation.
FSANZ said the gummies include “unapproved novel food ingredients” that “may cause adverse symptoms”.
NSW Poisons Centre medical director Darren Roberts said investigations into what the products include are “ongoing”.
