The Vatican is allowing gay men to become Catholic priests, under strict new rules that requires a vow of celibacy and forbidding an embrace of “gay culture”.

Pope Francis has apologised for using a homophobic slur during a church leader’s conference last week at the Vatican.

The Vatican has ruled that priests can bless same-sex couples, saying the Catholic Church should welcome “all who approach God”.
