How the body of a teenage girl was found in d4vd's car

The body of a teenage girl was found in a Tesla registered to TikTok star and singer d4vd earlier this month.

Police are yet to determine the cause of death, and say the singer is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

The girl has been identified as Celeste Rivas.

Here’s what we know so far.

Context

A car registered to d4vd (real name David Anthony Burke) was impounded on 5 September following complaints it had been abandoned in West Hollywood.

Police were called to a Hollywood tow yard on 8 September after workers reported a smell coming from the Tesla.

Inside the trunk, police found human remains, which they said were too decomposed to recognise.

Burke had not reported the car stolen and it is one of several he owns.

Identification

Police have now identified the body as Celeste Rivas.

Her family reported her missing from a town south-east of LA in April 2024, when she was 13.

She would have turned 15 the day before her body was found in the car.

A medical examiner described her body as being around 155cm tall and weighing 32kg.

Rivas had a tattoo on her finger that read “Shhh”. Burke has the same tattoo on one of his fingers.

The cause of Rivas’ death and the circumstances that led to her ending up in the Tesla remain unclear.

Police said her remains were not intact, and she appeared to have been dead for some time.

No arrests have been made.

Burke’s upcoming tour dates have been cancelled.
