Shadow Education Minister Julian Leeser has asked Australian unis to get rid of group assignments.
Speaking at a conference held by the peak body Universities Australia, Leeser said: “There is always that student who does the work, and that student who reaps the benefit. It diminishes the role of the individual.”

Leeser asked unis to “rethink assessments,” saying there is “no compelling justification” for making students work in teams.
He added: “Unless there are compelling reasons or exceptional circumstances, I am calling on you to get rid of group assignments.“
