Country Liberal Party Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price has been criticised for comments about Indian migrants to Australia during an interview with the ABC last week.
Price suggested that the Government allows “large numbers” of Indian migrants into Australia because of their “Labor leaning” political views.
On Wednesday, she said her remarks were “clumsy,” but did not apologise.

Community reaction
In a post to LinkedIn, Indian Link Media Group CEO Pawan Luthra condemned Jacinta Price’s comments, calling them “sinister”.
“Migrants don’t arrive in Australia with voting intentions mapped out. They spend years learning the political landscape before even becoming citizens,” he added.
Luthra accused Price of threatening social cohesion and “unfairly targeting” the Indian community in Australia.

Political responses
Over the weekend, Opposition Leader Sussan Ley said Price’s comments were “not correct” and “should not have taken place.”
However, the Liberal MP has not publicly called on her colleague to apologise. Price sits with the Liberals in Parliament.
On Tuesday, Nationals leader David Littleproud urged Price to apologise.
“We all make mistakes in life, and I think it’s important that when you do, you own up to them,” Littleproud said.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also called on Price to apologise for the “hurt that has been caused,” saying her comments were not true.
He refused to say whether or not he thought Ley should apologise on her behalf.
