Qantas is cancelling more flights than its competitors, according to a report from the competition watchdog.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) monitors the performance of Qantas, Virgin, Jetstar, and Rex.
Its most recent report shows Qantas cancelled around one in 30 flights in June.
The report also revealed airfares across all major airlines have increased, despite a fall in the cost of jet fuel.
Cancellations
Qantas reported the highest rate of flights cancelled in June, at 3.5%.
Virgin cancelled 1.6% of its flights over the same period.
The ACCC said a cancellation rate of 2.2% is the long-term industry average.
The Canberra-Sydney flight route was most affected by cancellations, rising to 11.9% in June.

Airlines attributed the cancellations to poor weather in both cities.
Airfares
Airfares were slightly higher in June compared to the same month in 2024, despite global jet fuel prices falling by 12.3%.
Qantas sold the highest proportion of seats in that time period.

Other details
All major airlines had a higher proportion of on-time flights thanthe long-term industry average of 80.7%.
The Melbourne-Sydney flight route remains the busiest in the country, with more than 560,000 passengers in June of this year.
While domestic passenger numbers have returned to pre-COVID levels, the number of seats available is still lower than June 2019.
