Paid subscribers to Prime Video will start seeing advertisements on the Amazon-owned streaming platform from 2 July.

The ads will automatically play during shows and films. However, Australian users can pay an extra $2.99 a month to avoid seeing ads. A Prime membership costs around $10 a month.

An email update to customers said there would be “no other” membership changes.

Amazon users in the U.S, UK, and Germany were hit with similar price increases for ad-free content earlier this year.
