A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after an alleged stabbing incident at the University of Sydney.

A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition. This is after reports of a stabbing at the inner-city Camperdown campus.

NSW Police said a teenage boy was arrested a short time later, after he boarded a bus outside the University.

The pair were not known to each other, according to NSW Police.

The University of Sydney confirmed a police operation is underway at its Camperdown campus following the stabbing incident.

In a statement to TDA, the University said it was working with authorities. It said that there may be “an increased security and police presence on campus,” as a precautionary measure.

A crime scene has been established as investigations continue.
